Church History

Early in 2006, Apostle Mathis received a charge to preach in North Carolina. He began ministering at 78 Finch Lane in a small building in Lilesville, North Carolina. Later in October 2007, the Church in the name of Jesus Christ was formed.

The need for a larger space was soon evident and the search began for a new location. A store front unit was found a few miles away. After remodeling was completed, the church relocated to the store front unit at 2502 US Hwy. 74 East in the city of Wadesboro, North Carolina.

After being at this location for two years, a diligent search began for a new building to purchase, but nothing suitable was found. Even though purchasing was the goal, a move had to be made. The church found store front units that were significantly larger. These spaces were renovated into beautiful places of worship and fellowship. Once renovations were completed, the church moved to 1234 East Caswell Street in Wadesboro, North Carolina in August of 2013.

In January 2020, a church was spotted for sale in Lilesville, North Carolina. On June 2, 2020, the church was purchased. Now at 312 West Wall Street in Lilesville North Carolina sits a beautiful, fully renovated church sanctuary with multiple office suites, a playroom, a kitchen and fellowship hall which resides on 2 acres of land. All the glory belongs to God.
